In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

はじめに神は天と地とを創造された。

In the beginning God made the heaven and the earth.

And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

地は形なく、むなしく、やみが淵のおもてにあり、神の霊が水のおもてをおおっていた。

But the earth was unseen and unready, and darkness was upon the abyss, and spirit of God bore upon the water.

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

神は「光あれ」と言われた。すると光があった。

And God said, Let there be light! And there was light.

And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. ▼

And God beheld the light that it was good. And God parted between the light and between the darkness.

And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. ▼

And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the water, and let it be for parting between water and water!

And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

そのようになった。神はおおぞらを造って、おおぞらの下の水とおおぞらの上の水とを分けられた。

And God made the firmament, and God parted between the water which was underneath the firmament, and between the water   above the firmament.

And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day. ▼

神はまた言われた、「天の下の水は一つ所に集まり、かわいた地が現れよ」。そのようになった。

And God said, Let [⁶come together ¹the ²water   ³underneath ⁴the ⁵heaven] into [²gathering ¹one], and let [³appear ¹the ²dry land]! And it was so. And [⁶gathered together ¹the ²water   ³underneath ⁴the ⁵heaven] into   their gatherings, and [³appeared ¹the ²dry land].

And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

神はそのかわいた地を陸と名づけ、水の集まった所を海と名づけられた。神は見て、良しとされた。

And God called the dry land, Earth; and the collections of the waters he called, Seas. And God beheld that it was good.

And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. ▼

神はまた言われた、「地は青草と、種をもつ草と、種類にしたがって種のある実を結ぶ果樹とを地の上にはえさせよ」。そのようになった。

And God said, Let [³grow ¹the ²earth] pasturage of grass sowing seed according to type, and according to likeness, and [²tree ¹the fruitful] producing fruit which the seed of it is in it, according to type upon the earth! And it was so.

And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

地は青草と、種類にしたがって種をもつ草と、種類にしたがって種のある実を結ぶ木とをはえさせた。神は見て、良しとされた。

And [³brought forth ¹the ²earth] pasturage of grass sowing seed, according to type, and according to likeness; and [²tree ¹the fruitful] producing fruit which the seed of it is in it, according to type upon the earth.

And the evening and the morning were the third day. ▼

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: ▼

神はまた言われた、「天のおおぞらに光があって昼と夜とを分け、しるしのため、季節のため、日のため、年のためになり、

And God said, Let there be luminaries in the firmament of the heaven for giving light upon the earth,   to part between the day and between the night! And let them be for signs, and for times, and for days, and for years!

And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

天のおおぞらにあって地を照らす光となれ」。そのようになった。

And let them be for giving light in the firmament of the heaven, so as to shine upon the earth! And it was so.

And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. ▼

神は二つの大きな光を造り、大きい光に昼をつかさどらせ、小さい光に夜をつかさどらせ、また星を造られた。

And God made the two [²luminaries   ¹great]; the [²luminary   ¹greater] for beginnings of the day, and the [²luminary   ¹lesser] for beginnings of the night, and the stars.

And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

神はこれらを天のおおぞらに置いて地を照らさせ、

And [²put ³them   ¹God] in the firmament of the heaven, so as to shine upon the earth,

And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

昼と夜とをつかさどらせ、光とやみとを分けさせられた。神は見て、良しとされた。

and to begin the day and the night, and to part between the light and between the darkness. And God beheld that it was good.

And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. ▼

And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. ▼

神はまた言われた、「水は生き物の群れで満ち、鳥は地の上、天のおおぞらを飛べ」。

And God said, Let [³bring forth ¹the ²waters] reptiles [²lives ¹of living], and [²winged creatures ¹flying] upon the earth below the firmament of the heaven! And it was so.

And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

神は海の大いなる獣と、水に群がるすべての動く生き物とを、種類にしたがって創造し、また翼のあるすべての鳥を、種類にしたがって創造された。神は見て、良しとされた。

And God made the [²whales   ¹great], and every life of living creatures of reptiles which [³brought forth ¹the ²waters] according to their types; and every [²winged creature ¹feathered] according to type. And God beheld that it was good.

And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

神はこれらを祝福して言われた、「生めよ、ふえよ、海の水に満ちよ、また鳥は地にふえよ」。

And [²blessed ³them   ¹God], saying, Grow and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas! And [²the ³winged creatures ¹let] be multiplied upon the earth!

And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. ▼

And there was evening and there was morning, [²day ¹the fifth].

And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

神はまた言われた、「地は生き物を種類にしたがっていだせ。家畜と、這うものと、地の獣とを種類にしたがっていだせ」。そのようになった。

And God said, Let [³bring forth ¹the ²earth ⁵life ⁴living] according to its  type -- four-footed, and reptiles, and wild beasts of the earth according to type! And it was so.

And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

神は地の獣を種類にしたがい、家畜を種類にしたがい、また地に這うすべての物を種類にしたがって造られた。神は見て、良しとされた。

And God made the wild beasts of the earth according to type, and the cattle according to their type, and all the reptiles of the earth according to type. And God beheld that it was good.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

神はまた言われた、「われわれのかたちに、われわれにかたどって人を造り、これに海の魚と、空の鳥と、家畜と、地のすべての獣と、地のすべての這うものとを治めさせよう」。

And God said, Let us make man according to [²image ¹our], and according to likeness! And let them control the fishes of the sea, and the winged creatures of the heaven, and the cattle, and all the earth, and all the reptiles of the ones crawling upon the earth!

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

神は自分のかたちに人を創造された。すなわち、神のかたちに創造し、男と女とに創造された。

And God made   man. According to the image of God he made him. Male and female he made them.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. ▼

神は彼らを祝福して言われた、「生めよ、ふえよ、地に満ちよ、地を従わせよ。また海の魚と、空の鳥と、地に動くすべての生き物とを治めよ」。

And [²blessed ³them   ¹God], saying, Grow and multiply, and fill the earth, and dominate it! And control the fishes of the sea, and the winged creatures of the heaven, and all the cattle, and all of the earth, and all of the reptiles of the ones  crawling upon the earth!

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. ▼

神はまた言われた、「わたしは全地のおもてにある種をもつすべての草と、種のある実を結ぶすべての木とをあなたがたに与える。これはあなたがたの食物となるであろう。

And God said, Behold, I have given to you every grass fit for sowing a sowing of seed which is upon the earth, and every tree which has in itself a fruit seed fit for sowing; to you it will be for food,

And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. ▼

また地のすべての獣、空のすべての鳥、地を這うすべてのもの、すなわち命あるものには、食物としてすべての青草を与える」。そのようになった。

and to all the wild beasts of the earth, and to all the winged creatures of the heaven, and to every reptile crawling upon the earth, which has in itself breath of life, even every [²grass ¹green] for food. And it was so.

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. ▼

神が造ったすべての物を見られたところ、それは、はなはだ良かった。夕となり、また朝となった。第六日である。

And God beheld   all as much as he made. And behold, it was  [²good ¹exceedingly]. And there was evening and there was morning, [²day ¹the sixth].
